How to replace your tailgate struts
Removing and installing tailgate struts is normally a quick job that can be done without the assistance of a mechanic. Most cars come with ball and socket type fittings where all you need is a flat blade screwdriver and someone to hold the tailgate for you. There will be a small metal band running around the back of the fitting – use the screwdriver to prise the band back and then the strut can be pulled off the car. The new struts will simply push fit back on again.
